Banana Walnut Waffle Recipe

This sweet, nutty concoction is best served in the form of a Belgian waffle because the deep pockets make wonderful hiding places for fresh banana slices, but it is equally tantalizing as a traditional waffle, loaded with crunch walnuts inside and topped with fresh bananas on the outside. Banana walnut waffle recipe is an excellent option for enjoying potassium rich bananas and walnuts, which are rich in antioxidants, fiber and other nutrients essential to good heart health. Walnuts are also rich in B vitamins, magnesium, and Vitamin E, and are high in omega 3 fatty acids – the good fats that have been shown to lower LDL cholesterol

For this Banana walnut waffle recipe we will need:

1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
1 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups milk
1 cup melted butter
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 cup butter
1 cup chopped walnuts
4-5 fresh bananas for topping
2 teaspoons white sugar

1. First you need to sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, brown sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.

2. Then stir in chopped walnuts and set aside.

3. Now we are going to the wet ingredients - whisk together the eggs, vanilla extract, milk and melted butter in a separate bowl.

4. Add liquid ingredients to the flour mixture and stir by hand or with an electric mixer. You want the batter to be nice and even but still slightly lumpy. OK, the waffle batter is done.

5. It is time to bake the waffles. Use a preheated waffle iron and bake for about 2 minutes or until steam stops coming out of the seam.

6. When the waffles are done it is time for the topping. Top them with butter, white sugar, fresh sliced bananas and syrup to taste.

Hm, what is the brown sugar for then? I'm going to caramelize the bananas with a little of it, some syrup, and butter! Mmmmm.

/ however I didn't top with the banannas or homemade syrup.... Which sounded
Great to me/ but not to my hubby.... Anyway i was impressed with the
Flavor/ texture/ the crisp outside/... Very easy to make as well...!

Not good... directions are unclear. Ingredients seem out of proportion. Just made my first waffle, and it looked and tasted terrible. Keep searching for another banana walnut waffle recipe!

This is a very bad recipe. The directions are unclear (what is the brown sugar for?). Worst of all, it calls for WAY too much salt, resulting in salty, terrible tasting waffles.

I just made these waffles and I followed the directions exactly and they turned out
AWFUL!!! They taste terrible and they look even worse! FIND A DIFFERENT RECIPE!

just curious 11 tsp of vanilla????? that seems like quite alot. and what's the brown sugar for????

Jeanine 06.06.2009. 16:27

Some of these comments are funny. The brown sugar is added with the dry ingredients. And the recipe calls for 1 tsp of vanilla not 11. If you actually read and follow the recipe, they turn out just like waffles. Or just use bisquick if that's too hard.

I just made these, thought it sounded great but turned out to be soggy and gross.

If people do not know how to read and use recipes, maybe they oughtn't be cooking or baking.

Matt 22.01.2011. 07:39

INEDIBLE!!! i kept adding flour and white sugar and they came out passable as pancake's. would never make this recipe again!!! STAY AWAY!!!

Just mash your bananas and throw them in the batter. It will help with them being too runny.

Although we don't like to admit it, there are times when you need to eat something other than waffles. Here you can find a link to Amazon which is a great place to buy your first or your new waffle maker. Then you have other sites that also offer great recipes and we like to visit them sometimes when we are in a mood for something other that waffles. Which is not very often :). Enjoy!
